About us

Talino Venture Labs is a global venture studio for inclusive fintech that builds tech startups throughout Asia and the United States. Our mission is to bridge the financial inclusion gap and accelerate economic growth and recovery for underserved markets and the emerging middle class around the world.

Our company is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our team as we continue to improve financial access to underrepresented groups through our portfolio of services.

Your role

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be a key member of Talino’s Technology Team, working closely with business leaders, fellow engineers, and Talino’s design and architecture. You will help build secure, scalable, and stable structures for various software applications. Basic understanding of front-end technologies is crucial, as you'll be responsible for integrating front-end elements into each assigned application.

On a practical level, your role involves developing all server-side logic, defining and maintaining databases, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions push through while keeping every customer's data secure.

You must communicate and collaborate with technical teams to optimize products and maintain an agile backlog and delivery pipeline. Moreover, you must understand technical, product, and design strategy, as well as address cross-team challenges related to customers, quality, and security.

To be a good fit for this role, you must love the intersection of ideas, data, and technology. Being passionate about agile problem solving and perceptive of the customer experience will give you an advantage.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Develop and maintain back-end software while developing writing tests, conducting unit and integration testing, and writing automations
  • Collaborate with the rest of the development team, design, and architecture team, in designing and developing software applications
  • Uphold standards when writing code to ensure that the software is maintainable, robust, scalable, and testable to ensure optimal performance of software solutions
  • Conduct peer reviews to ensure that code is well written for optimal performance and adheres to set standards
  • Maximize the technology stack, languages, frameworks, and design patterns, which will vary based on specific project needs
  • Ensure compatibility and stability of software releases and that development deliverables are deployed with a smooth handoff for production

Coordinate and manage tasks:

  • Align deliverables with project stakeholders and provide regular updates
  • Attend regular stand ups and committee meetings as needed and ensure regular communication with assigned leads
  • Communicate and document technical challenges, risks, and recommendations
  • Perform other related functions deemed necessary by the direct supervisor, as agreed by all parties

We use flexible tech stacks to build and run our projects, but candidates are not required to know every piece of technology. At Talino, we believe in the importance of being passionate and willing to learn. Come with an enthusiastic mindset and we’ll help you grow.
